The flowers of Apodytes dimidiata are small, white and star-like with black anthers. The flowers grow in terminal or axillary panicles in spring and summer.

The wood of the white pear as it is commonly known is pinkish and hard. In the past this wood was used for manufacturing wagon wheels. The tree is a popular parks and gardens subject in both South Africa and Kenya; and probably in many more countries (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Noad and Birnie, 1989).
