Violet to mauve-pink Ormocarpum trichocarpum flowers display their typical pea-flower shape. The tree belongs to the Fabaceae family.

Flowers usually hang from leaf axils in small clusters, opening one at a time. The flowers have many, dark vein lines, closely aligned to each other along the corollas. The banner petal curves back strongly in the photo. A whitish keel protrudes above the tip of a wing petal. Some narrowly pointed, hairy sepal tips are visible.

Corollas drop off soon after fertilisation. Flowering happens from midsummer to midautumn (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997).
