Half flower, half fruit pod, the development on this Ormocarpum trichocarpum branch is well on its way to producing seed. There doesn’t seem to be much for the ant to glean here, maybe the sunlight stroll was only intended for exercise or out of curiosity; but ants don’t waste time.
Note the long style remains still curving from the developing pod tips through the stiff, shaggy bristles (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
