Urochloa mosambicensis flowers

The inflorescence of Urochloa mosambicensis consists of three to twelve spike-like racemes borne alternately on a central axis. The inflorescence becomes 10 cm long.

The dense arrangement of the short-stalked spikelets is one-sided on their raceme. The egg-shaped to lance-shaped spikelets become 5 mm long and are sharply pointed. There is a short, hard awn on the upper lemma (bract) of the spikelet.

Flowering happens from mid-spring to autumn (Van Oudtshoorn, et al, 1991; Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; Lowrey and Wright, 1987; iNaturalist).
