Multiplying on a rocky outcrop high up in the Barberton grassland, these Aloe suprafoliata plants have their leaf rosettes angled to the side as if they all favour the same view. The Lebombo Mountains offer spectacular vistas, whether you are an aloe aficionado hiking to see plants near and mountain tops far, or merely enjoying photos taken by people who took the trouble of the climb.
The youngest of the plants on the left in picture still has its leaves in the book aloe style, vertically arranged in two opposing arrays. The time will come in a few years for the new upper leaves to twist into the circular arrangement of the fully developed leaf rosette (Van Wyk and Smith, 2003; Pooley, 1998; Reynolds, 1974; Jeppe, 1969; iNaturalist).
