Syncarpha vestita

Syncarpha vestita is a fast-growing shrublet that flourishes in a westerly, coastal part of the fynbos for less than ten years before being replaced by its next generation. Large, flattish clusters of white everlasting flowerheads impress from late spring to after midsummer.

Seed production from the abundance of healthy flowerheads is high, making these plants a common sight in habitat. Seeds generally germinate well after fires. When the fynbos grows too tall, these plants disappear while the seeds lie dormant in the soil until the next fire (Marais, (Ed.), 2017; www.plantzafrica.com).
