Glottiphyllum regium flower

The flower of Glottiphyllum regium has a long stalk of more than 3 cm. The four succulent sepals, invisible below the petals in picture, don’t help in distinguishing among Glottiphyllum species, but at least set them apart from mesemb genera endowed with different numbers of sepals. The yellow petals spread to a corolla diameter of 2,5 cm.

Flowering happens in autumn and winter; sometimes, probably in cultivation, later (Smith, et al, 1998; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; www.plantzafrica.com).
