Glottiphyllum regium capsules

The fruit capsules of Glottiphyllum regium are large and initially soft. The have about seven to ten valves. Fresh capsules are red, fleshy and translucent as in the photo; dry and spent ones (from a year earlier), will sometimes still show the closing bodies (Smith, et al, 1998; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; www.plantzafrica.com).
