Gnidia tenella, previously G. albicans, is an erect, loosely branched and silvery haired shrub reaching 2 m in height. The specific name, tenella, is a Latin word meaning delicate or tender, referring to the leaf and flower appearance.
The species distribution is in the Western Cape from around Ceres to the Cape Peninsula and Bredasdorp.
The habitat is sandstone, fynbos slopes. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Mustart, et al, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
