The flowerheads of Gazania tenuifolia grow solitary, occasionally in small clusters on rigid stalks above the leaves, yellow or orange in colour on rays and disc.
The flowerhead has one row of ovate, round-tipped ray florets with brown, dark green or nearly black basal patches forming a distinct ring around the many-flowered disc that is coloured as the ray tips. Small, regular but variable white patches occur in the dark ring component of every ray. A flowerhead measures about 1 cm to 2 cm in diameter.
Flowering happens late in winter and early in spring. The photo was taken in August (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
