An old Gorteria personata plant may spread its several creeping branches on the ground around the plant base from where one or more erect stems may appear. They are not nearly as tall as the outliers are long, in picture radiating out over the stony ground.
The branches may be lusher than in the photo taken in September in already dry conditions, well after the winter rains (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://florabase.dpaw.wa.gov.au).
