Geranium drakensbergensis, the Drakensberg cranesbill, is an evergreen, low-growing perennial that forms large clumps and flowers much. Much of the plant is hairy, the hairs bending back, flat on the surfaces from which they grow.
The distribution of this range-restricted species is in KwaZulu-Natal from Witsieshoek to Underberg and in nearby, across-the-border regions of Lesotho.
The habitat is high altitude, permanently moist and partially shaded spots near the base of sandstone or basalt crags and near streams. The species is rare but its population in nature is considered stable early in the twenty first century, due to its remoteness (iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
