Gasteria bicolor var. liliputana

As the name suggests, Gasteria bicolor var. liliputana is one of the smallest gasteria species. The plant tends to form clumps. As they mature the leaves at each stem tip assumes the form of a rosette.

The distribution of this plant is in the Eastern Cape, restricted to part of the Grahamstown region. While rare, it is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century, the land where it grows not being suitable for agriculture (www.redlist.sanbi.org).
