The leaves of Gasteria bicolor var. liliputana are thickly succulent and strap-shaped with entire margins tapering to acutely pointed tips. The dark green surfaces are smooth and hairless, mottled cream or pale green from a multitude of scattered and overlapping dots. Leaf dimensions are up to 10 cm long by 1.5 cm wide.

The leaves of young plants are distichous, i.e. arranged in two opposite, vertical ranks. Soon, however, they twist sideways in maturing plants (such as those in picture) into a rosette shape (iSpot; www.plantzafrica.com).
