The white flowers of Agathosma ovata spread their elliptic to oblong petals around the flower centres. The five small, pointed staminodes of each flower also spread their tiny tips around the same flower centres, as well they can.
The dark patch just visible in the centre of each flower is the ovary, still well-covered now, but soon to dominate this scene.
Long, white filaments are slightly thinner near their tips where the short, thick anthers present colours varying in shades of dark brown, creamy yellow and pale purple, reflecting different developmental stages.
