Albuca grandis leaves in the sand

Albuca grandis leaves in the sand
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The few stem-clasping leaves of Albuca grandis grow from ground level, broadest at the base and mostly shorter than the inflorescence. The leaves are long and narrow, tapering and attenuating to acute tips. The fleshy blue-green blades are channelled above.

A young inflorescence is emerging in the centre of the leaves on one plant in picture. The photo was taken in September (Manning and Goldblatt, 2009: Albuca crispa and A. grandis. Bothalia 39(2), 153-163; iNaturalist).
