Hermannia pulverata is a pale grey, hairy shrublet that spreads, reaching heights from 30 cm to 45 cm. The stems are woody low down, herbaceous higher up.

The species distribution is inland in the western half of South Africa, found in the Western Cape and the Northern Cape, as well as in the western parts of the Eastern Cape, the Free State and the far west of North West. The photo was taken near Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo.

The habitat is semi-arid rocky kloofs and water courses in Nama Karoo and succulent Karoo. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
