Brunsvigia radulosa managing different floral stages

Not all Brunsvigia radulosa flowers are in the same life stage, also not of the same colour. There are short-pedicelled buds with closed perianths emerging from the centre, while the oldest, lowest one on the left in picture is already non-floral, resembling a duck’s head with red beak

More production output is possible when resource quantities and delivery channel capacity are not overtaxed by unseemly rush or miscalculation. People can learn diligence from ants, but production regulation from many-flowering plants.

In picture the six stamens curve up in two groups of three, one behind the other. The white style bends back above the stamens, as if shunning own pollen (Duncan, et al, 2016; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
