Euryops tysonii tired heads

This Euryops tysonii shrublet is doing well, judging from its leaves. The stalkless, narrowly oblong leaves grow densely scattered around the many upper branches in picture.

Doubts may arise, however, from the droop in the flowerheads. This plant was found growing from a rock crevice in the Sani Pass vicinity. The end of bloomtime has arrived and appearances are no longer maintained. Fruiting in flowering plants is not a social function as is flowering. The ray florets have visibly succumbed as the ovaries swell once fruiting process taking over. The heads get heavier but are no longer required to remain erect, attracting and pleasing the multitudes of itinerant pollinators during annual festivities (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
