Watsonia confusa is a large, summer-growing, cormous perennial that grows solitary or in small clumps to heights up to 1,5 m. The three or four sword-shaped leaves per corm are rigid and erect, smooth and pale blue-green. Leaf width varies around 2 cm. The slightly inflated stem leaves overlap, sheathing the stem.
The species distribution is in the east of the Eastern Cape and the south and centre of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as in Lesotho. The photo is from the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg.
The habitat is damp grassland and southern mountain slopes at various elevations. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century.
The plant features in horticulture (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
