The fragrant flowers of Babiana bainesii are produced in a congested inflorescence close to the ground. They appear in one or two spikes of up to five flowers each.

The three delicately out-curving style branches in picture end in bulges where the stigmas are positioned. The three darker, thicker anthers are positioned lower than the stigmas.

Flowering happens from late summer to after midautumn.

The fruit is a capsule (Manning, 2009; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Lowrey and Wright, 1987; iNaturalist; Wikipedia; https://wildflowernursery.co.za).
