The fruit of Lampranthus fugitans, firmly erect on a sturdy pedicel at a stem tip is red on top, while green and cone-shaped to funnel-shaped below in the still functional calyx part. The five calyx lobes have already withered here, dry and downcurved, turned away from the five fleshy capsule valves that haven’t become woody yet (Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist).
