In profile, the flower of Sparaxis roxburghii shows the tepals joined at the base in a tube. The bluest (or “mauvist”) tepal or dorsal is erect, the blue style and stamens close to it, the style branches further forward than the three anthers. The upper lateral tepal pair covers the corolla sides in lighter blue, while the lower three first curve up and then down in white with some yellow and a little blue tip, easily missed (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
