    One Lapeirousia fabricii open flower is showing the way to the many buds below. Two bracts enfold each bud in the early stage. Then bract tips are pushed apart as corolla expansion enforces its liberation.

    Much elongation is to follow before the firm, narrow corolla tube holds up its six widened tepal lobes, spreading in the bloomtime triumph of the species.
