The yellow to slightly orange flowers of Vanheerdea roodiae grow stalked and solitary, or in groups of up to three from the gaps between leaf pairs. When more than one flower is produced, they follow each other in emerging from the leaf pair slit, not appearing concurrently.

There are five or more fleshy and round-tipped sepals, not all equal. The petals grow in three series. Nectaries are positioned in a ring in the flower base. Flower diameter is up to 5 cm. The strongly scented flowers open in the afternoon and close at night. Bloomtime is late winter and early spring (Frandsen, 2017; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist; https://llifle.com).
