Indigofera denudata is a multistemmed, much-branched shrub reaching heights from 1,5 m to 2 m. It resprouts after fire. The specific name, denudata, is a Latin word meaning denuded, possibly referring to the sparse branches or leaves, or even the hairlessness of the plant.
The species distribution is in the coastal east of the Western Cape from near Mossel Bay to the Eastern Cape along the Langkloof and the Baviaanskloof to Makhanda, and into the Karoo as far as Steytlerville. The photo was taken in the Kouga Valley, south of the Baviaanskloof.
The habitat is shrubland and grassy fynbos on lower mountain slopes. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
