This Lachenalia plant flowering during June in the veld near Vermont is thought to be Lachenalia bulbifera, but its yellow anthers protrude from the perianth mouths, although only just. The species usually includes the stamens in full after opening, even when the pollen in the anthers is ripe.
The open flowers in picture have turned dark near the perianth tips, the younger buds not yet showing that colouring. The angled up perianth buds are notably shorter than the angled down open flowers below. The elongation appears to be sudden, making the heavier bodies sag.
Some small and narrow, purplish floral bracts are visible in the centre at the raceme top. They may yet be surpassed by more buds to come, if the plant can muster the energy from bloomtime resources (Manning, 2009; iNaturalist).
