Xylotheca tettensis leaves and fruit husk

The leaves of Xylotheca tettensis are alternate, spirally arranged or clustered on spur-branchlets. The broadly oblong to obovate blades may be round-tipped or tapering and slightly pointed, the base varying between lobed, square (flat) or tapering. The faintly hairy blades are deep green above, paler below with creamy white midribs and the ascending lateral veins prominent below.

Leaf dimensions are quite variable, from 1,5 cm to 10 cm long and from 0,8 cm to 7,5 cm wide. 

The fruits are ovoid, woody capsules with hard tips, up to 4 cm in diameter. A ripe fruit splits into about eight spreading, spindle-shaped valves as the one in the photo has done in seven.
