Saltera sarcocolla bracts below the pink

The yellow bracts below the flourishing pink and white Saltera sarcocolla perianth lobes end a little lower on the tube of the yellow floral part, shown in dark tips. Above the slightly bulging bracts, the paler yellow-green of the perianth tube continues straighter up to the flower mouth, from where the lobes could flutter when there is wind.

The younger stem on the side will develop all of this in good time later. The capacity for flowering is inside it, not copied from the neighbour (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
