The leaves of Pelargonium trifidum are succulent and deeply lobed into three sections. Leaf colouring is pale to yellowish green. Leaf margins may be toothed, here folding in and some red-rimmed. The leaf diameter is about 4 cm.
The leaves grow on many long, scrambling branches in a trailing habit, finding their way into adjacent vegetation in habitat, mostly karoid bushes. This plant loses its leaves readily during dry seasons.
P. trifidum is said to exude a pungent fragrance (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist; www.plantzafrica.com).
