The young Pelargonium trifidum leaf does not yet have red margins as older ones tend to develop. The three main lobes may have a big secondary lobe or two, all embellished with small, thick-rimmed and round-tipped, marginal lobes that fold in forming channels that drain into the leaf-base.
The light green to bright green young blade has a faint covering of whitish, stubbly hairs. The long, maroon petiole also has such hairs, short like dots (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist; www.plantzafrica.com).
