Hermannia vestita, sometimes called the grey dollsrose, in Afrikaans the swaelbossie (little sulphur bush), a name sometimes shared with H. desertorum, and previously scientifically H. candidissima, is a hairy shrublet growing to heights around 30 cm.
The species distribution is in Karoo parts of the Western Cape, the Northern Cape and the Eastern Cape, also in the southern Free State.
The plants may form a ground cover on steep slopes, often near the rocks where hyrax live. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century.
The plants are not highly palatable, browsed when other options become hard to find (Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
