Cyrtanthus epiphyticus flowers

The inflorescence of Cyrtanthus epiphyticus comprises six to fifteen flowers grown at the tip of a hollow scape shorter than the leaves. The two bracts at the top of the scape that enveloped the buds, about 3,5 cm long, are dry when the flowers are open.

The orange-red flowers have narrow, curved tubes, their tips pendulous. The varieties differ in redder or more orange perianth colours. They curve down from stiff, short, purple pedicels. Only the small, oblong, round-tipped tepal tips spread at the mouth.

Flowering happens in spring (Pooley, 1998).
