The pink candle orchid, as Satyrium neglectum is locally known, grows in the Drakensberg and more widespread in moist spots of summer rainfall grassland.
The distribution ranges from the KwaZulu-Natal south coast and northwards to Tanzania and Malawi. A large number of pale to dark pink flowers form the inflorescence. There is mention of a less common yellow flowering variety (Manning, 2009; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
