Haworthia turgida

Haworthia turgida is a small, stemless leaf succulent, a notably variable plant that may find its way back into the H. retusa species group.

The swollen or turgid leaves with rounded tips, up to about 40 of them, form a compact rosette at ground level, measuring about 5 cm in diameter. The rosettes multiply into a dense clump, offsetting through stolons.

The windows in the leaves have a glassy green translucence. A few pale lines run across these windows; there is also pale mottling present on the leaf surfaces. Leaves may become dark red seasonally.

The plant bears about 20 to 30 spirally arranged, white flowers with brownish veins in a simple inflorescence of 15 cm to 20 cm tall.
