Solanum campylacanthum subsp. panduriforme back ends of flowers

Solanum campylacanthum subsp. panduriforme back ends of flowers
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Ivan Lätti

Seen from behind, the small sepals at the back of the Solanum campylacanthum subsp. panduriforme flowers spread their pointed lobes against the corolla surfaces, overwhelmed by their comparative size.

The leaf midrib is dominant on especially the lower part of the leaf blade. The in-curving lateral veins are visible, as is some net-veining. The leaf stalks are sturdy and fairly long. The leaf-base is symmetrical or variously skewed on leaves visible in the photo (Pooley, 1998; Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; iSpot).
