The flat leaves of Trachyandra muricata are encircled by a tubular sheath at the base, though not individually. Two to ten leaves grow from the base, long and nearly oblong, sometimes sickle-shaped, covered in rough hairs.
The leaf tips are pointed. The margins are usually minutely spiny. Longitudinal vein lines in picture are sunken on the upper, gradually tapering surfaces. The leaves become up to 80 cm long and 5 cm wide.
One narrower, inner leaf in picture manages a slow twist (Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
