These Cyanella orchidiformis leaves were seen in the Biedouw Valley where the surroundings were amply embellished by lichen, moss and small herbs in anticipation of the orchid-like lady’s hand flowers to come. The straight, acutely pointed tips of the glossy green, spreading leaves are the noted feature here; not much of wavy margins in this rosette.
Rock takes time in accommodating plants demanding root space, but eventually it succumbs as the generations keep pushing, their roots keep insisting. Time has a way of dealing with all that are hard in heart and other parts (Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
