Large colonies of Hemimeris racemosa may be seen flowering where late winter and early spring conditions are favourable. Seldom reaching the upper limits of recorded plant size for the species, 40 cm to 50 cm, multitudes of small plants make up for this in concerted blooming.
These soft herbs are often encountered in places shaded for several hours or most of the day.
The fruit capsules contain many seeds for blooming next year, the plants being annuals (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist).
