    Lapeirousia divaricata buds
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

These Lapeirousia divaricata buds seen in the Biedouw Valley have a yellowish tinge on the outside of their tepals, absent from the inside surfaces of open flowers. The club-shaped buds may also sometimes display faint dark line markings, also not repeated inside and not on these flowers.

The opposite, green bracts of each bud and flower are nearly equal in size (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
