Delosperma saxicola leaf-pair tips start off close together, pushed apart widely by their stem-tip successors. The decussate growth pattern produces each new pair perpendicularly on top of the next.
Some upper leaf surfaces in picture have small concave central parts that possibly level out in time on the pale green to bright green, three-angled leaves. The thickest point of the leaf is nearer the tip than the base. All the leaves point up, angled outwards, becoming about 1,5 cm long.
A small, pale brown fruit capsule is present, showing its five locules (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; http://pza.sanbi.org).
