Ornithoglossum undulatum flower stalks are sturdy, curving from the plant base as the fruiting starts. These scapes are pale coloured as the leaves at this late stage of annual production proceedings.
The flower stems are important for delivering nourishment to the developing fruits that will yield several globose, brown seeds in due course, if all goes well (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
