Euryops tagetoides floral stages include one during which the still individually folded rays are short and erect around the rounded buds of the disc. The upper parts of the single row of involucral bracts are finger-like and free around the ray bases.
The older flowerhead in picture wears ruined ray floret blades like the hairdo of a bride on the morning after. Youth is still not something of the past, as the unopened disc florets in the centre indicate (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://www.worldfloraonline.org).
