Cotula duckittiae, one of several disc-dominated daisy flowering species commonly called buttons, is a robust annual reaching heights from 15 cm to 40 cm.
The species distribution is along and near the southern reaches of the west coast in the Western Cape from Yzerfontein to Bokbaai. The photo was taken in the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve also known as Tietiesbaai.
The habitat is sandy or limestone coastal flats and dune strandveld. The species is considered to be vulnerable in its habitat early in the twenty first century, due to farming, urbanisation and invasion by alien vegetation (Manning, 2009; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
