Hemimeris sabulosa is a small, soft annual that branches, bearing narrowly ovate or oblong leaves. The blades are dark green or red-purple ending in round tips and sometimes extending one or two pairs of lateral lobes.
The yellow to deep yellow corollas are two-lipped and four-lobed. Two small patches bearing maroon-brown spots are present on the upper lobes, while the lower lip is concave in its centre. There is a pair of arm-like pouches pointing inwards over the top part of the lower lip (Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
