Aloe humilis flowers

The Aloe humilis perianths in picture are orange-red for most of their length, widening and curving near the base. They change colour to yellow near the bluntly pointed and some out-curving tips. A short green line is visible on both surfaces at every segment lobe tip.

The slightly exserted stamens end in dull orange-brown anthers. The papery, beige bracts, erect on the stems conceal much of the pedicels of their flowers. In bud the perianth is borne erectly, its tip dull green (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Van Wyk and Smith, 2003; Reynolds, 1974; Jeppe, 1969; iNaturalist).
