Anacampseros arachnoides is a tiny succulent perennial with white, pink or purple flowers. The Greek word anakampto means to recover and eros means love. The generic name is derived from a belief that touching an Anacampseros plant will serve to recover lost love.
The height of A. arachnoides is usually around 5 cm, the branched stems densely leaved. The leaves are thickly succulent, green to purplish, finely hairy with small spines on the leaf tips. A flowering stem may bear three to five flowers with elliptic, pointed petals. Flowers only open for one afternoon; these plants self-fertilise. Seeds are wind dispersed (www.ebay.com; Wikipedia).
