    Moraea tripetala spotted nectar guides
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This pale blue and white Moraea tripetala flower has white-fringed nectar guides low down on the three spreading tepal lobes. The nectar guides are flushed yellow below the margins and black-dotted in the centre. These outer tepals are conspicuous, sometimes bent backwards, the inner three minute.

A dry spathe tip protrudes thread-like beside the tepals in picture.

The photo was taken in Jonkershoek during July (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
