Dicoma fruticosa flowerheads grow solitary at stem-tips. They are about 1 cm in diameter. The involucral bracts are gland-dotted.

The fruits of the disc florets have short stiff hooked bristles as their pappus attachments.

The plants flower in spring after rain (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Netnou and Van Wyk, 2007: A Key to Dicoma Taxa (Dicomeae) in Southern Africa. Bothalia 37,1 (2007); iNaturalist).
