    Ruschia pungens flowers may cover the plant in colour during bloomtime after rain.

    It seems here as if the central stamen and staminode clusters or cones turn brown earlier than the withering of the petals.

    Ruschia flowers are open during the day, better in sunshine. They are also fragrant (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Smith, et al, 1998; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
